PUNE: The results for higher secondary school certificate (HSC) exam will be declared on June 4.

An official release issued by the state board secretary stated on Saturday that the results will be available on the board's official website from 11 am onwards. The website URLs and related details will be announced soon.

The result summary, booklet of awards, marksheets and school reports will be issued to high schools and junior colleges from the authorised distribution centres of the state board's eight divisional units. Students will get their marksheets from their respective junior colleges and high schools.

As a policy followed for the last few years, the state board won't declare any merit list, although it will release names of the winners of various awards sponsored by the board and its donors for students excelling in different categories and subjects. June 15 is the last date for students who wish to apply for revaluation.

Similarly, application forms for the October 2009 supplementary examination are expected to be filed by students by June 15 with their respective junior college or high school. The extended deadline with late fees for submission is June 22.

In March last year, the state board announced a novel initiativeClass Improvement Schemethrough which students, who may desire to improve upon their aggregate score in the HSC March exam, get a chance to do so in the October exam. The CIS candidates get the option of retaining either their March or October exam marklist---the latter carries a CIS remark'.

Last year, the CIS drew response from close to 2,000 students across the state. While the board officials see this as a "fair success", there are views contrary to this in the academic circles. The board has decided to continue with the CIS and the option will remain open for the March 2009 passouts too this year.
